Highguard Review

Honestly, Highguard feels like a major swing and a miss. The biggest issue is that it’s just boring; you spend most of the match wandering around barren a map where nothing really happens until the very end. The technical side is rough, too. The graphics are standard, and the audio is either bland or annoying, with obnoxiously loud footsteps. It tries to be a “jack of all trades” but ends up sucking at all of it.

The gameplay loop doesn’t save it, either. The gunplay is mediocre in the sense that a full clip is needed to break an enemy shield. Loot is super basic, and the characters are uninspired with designs and abilities that feel reused from other games. The 3v3 format feels off, it really should be 4v4 or 5v5 and it’s made worse by people leaving in the first five minutes, which basically guarantees a loss. The only upside is that the game and the first battle pass are free, but otherwise, it’s a forgettable experience executed poorly.
